Paul Zaretsky
Naturalist, Environmentalist, Photographer
 |
This fall, Paul celebrates 15 years of images.
He is motivated by the current threats to our environment, and hopes others will
be inspired by his photographs and gain a better appreciation for the
natural places that remain. His fine art Fuji Crystal Archive and giclee
digital prints are of the highest quality. His work highlights many of
his favorite shooting destinations: the rainforest of Belize, the Aspens
of the Eastern Sierra, remote areas of the Pacific Crest Trail, our local
Monterey Bay coastline, the colorful southwest desert, and his home turf
of Massachusetts.
Paul was first introduced to conservation work by his mother, Gerie Zaretsky,
whose dedication to the environment changed their hometown of Seekonk,
Mass. for the better. From establishing one of the first recycling programs
in the country to leading beautification and conservation projects, the
fruits of her labor can be seen on almost every street in Seekonk.
Paul continues in her spirit by working with many environmental
organizations including the Elkhorn Slough Foundation, Land Trust of Santa Cruz County,The Nature Conservancy,
Pacific Crest Trail Association, Sierra Club, Ventana Wilderness Society,
Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County, and Environmental Grantmakers Association,
to name a few. He also takes the time to volunteer as a docent at the
Elkhorn Slough Reserve in Moss Landing. His photos are used in their publications and websites to educate, raise money and promote their work. He also donates to many local schools whose dwindling art and music programs need help.
Paul's photos can be seen in many local businesses, websites, newspapers
and publications including 2008 Sierra Club Calendar & 2008 Santa Cruz Calendar.
